FORTY-SIX women have completed a three-week community-based training (CBT) program aimed at equipping them with practical skills to improve their livelihoods and economic independence.
The sixth community-based training program was organised and facilitated by International Needs Network Fiji, with funding from the New Zealand Government.
The graduates were recognised during a ceremony at Nasole Methodist Church Hall in Nasinu, attended by families, friends and supporters.
International Needs Fiji executive director Laijipa Naulivou said the program was designed to empower women with skills to support themselves and their families.
“Each graduate represents a story of resilience, empowerment and hope,” she said.
She said the program helped women build confidence while strengthening their families and communities.
“Through CBT, women are not only learning skills but also building confidence, strengthening their families, and contributing to their communities.”
Ms Naulivou acknowledged the New Zealand Government for its support through the Manaaki program.
“Their support has enabled us to extend training opportunities to women across Fiji, ensuring that empowerment and livelihood creation reach those who need it most.”
Participants learned business, life and livelihood development skills, including jewellery, macramé making and fabric art.
The latest cohort brings the number of women trained since 2024 to 274, with a target of 320 graduates by the end of this year.
