The Youth Training Centre in Valelevu, Nasinu has recorded its highest number of graduates ever.

This was highlighted at its graduation ceremony by centre manager Kavitesh Behari.

“Looking at the numbers of students graduating, it is the highest number of graduates in the history of the training centre,” he said, adding that in previous years there would be between 30 and 32 graduates.

“In the beginning of the year, the centre enrolled 82 youths, however, only 52 managed to graduate.”

Mr Behari said even though the course was free, students may have dropped out because of financial constraints such as bus fares and meal money.

He said the training centre was looking into ways to improve procedures because they aimed to have the same number of applicants make it to graduation next year.

“We are also hoping we will witness a major turnout of applications next year.

“And, we’re quite known for giving second chances to youths from different walks of life.”

Mr Behari has urged youths to make use of the government initiative because the course was free of charge.

Application forms are available at the National Training Youth Centre and online through the Ministry of Youth and Sports portal.
