The Fiji Sports Council says while the overhaul of the running tracks at the HFC Bank Stadium is overdue, it will depend on funding from Government to carry out repairs.

This is according to the council’s chief operations officer, Ashni Sharma.

“The tracks, which were completely refurbished in 2013 as part of the stadium project then, has experienced national and regional competitions over the years,” Sharma said.

“That said, the upgrades and renovations of Fiji Sports Council venues, which includes an overhaul of the running tracks at HFC Bank Stadium, were undertaken as part of the council’s long-term capital project plans and is overdue for another replacement which, of course, is dependent on funding from Government, the owners of the FSC venues.”

The stadium at Laucala is the venue of the annual secondary school Coke Games, which for this year is scheduled for May.
