Labasa Town is set to see an exciting upgrade and changes to some of its facilities. Labasa Town Council chief executive officer Faiz Ali said plans are already in place to transform the botanical garden into a family-friendly space.

One of the key features of the upgrade, Mr Ali said would be the addition of a multipurpose court.

“This new facility is expected to cater to various sports and activities, providing a valuable recreational space for the community,” he said.

“Whether it’s for basketball, netball, or other court-based games, the multipurpose court aims to be a hub of physical activity and health.”

The botanical garden, he said would also have podium designed for concerts or awareness programs.

“It will offer a space for cultural, educational, and entertainment events, making the garden a centre for community engagement and a venue for public gatherings.” He said the council plans to include a children’s park within its grounds.

“This dedicated area for kids is envisioned as a safe and engaging place where children can play and explore.

“It will also be a place where families will be able to spend picnic and leisure time.”

The botanical garden upgrade, he said was just one of the many initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in Labasa, making the town a more vibrant and inclusive place for everyone.
