A total of 62 golfers participated in the Roger Probert Challenge Trophy, sponsored by Fiji Gas, held at the Fiji Golf Course in Vatuwaqa on Saturday.

This annual tournament honors the memory of the late Roger Probert, who founded Ready Gas in Fiji in 1956, which later evolved into Fiji Gas.

Born on March 19, 1917, Roger married Lesley Harvie in 1948 and raised three children, Harvie, Lyndall, and Merran.

He was an active member of the Lautoka Golf Club and represented the Western team in the annual golf clash against the Eastern team from the Sugar City.

Women’s Golf Fiji president, Susie Yee, expressed gratitude for the fine weather that allowed the tournament to proceed, especially after last year’s event was canceled due to adverse conditions. The tournament is a highlight highlight in their calendar.
