THE Yasawas have become a dream destination in North America and in Europe, said Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Viliame Gavoka.
He said he witnessed this two to three months ago when a group travelled from Europe to go to the Yasawas.
“So, Fiji is riding on this profile of that historical thing about Yasawa,” he said.
“It’s just that the satisfaction level for Yasawa is quite high and I’m confident this is a huge part of Fiji tourism. It’s so beautiful.”
Barefoot Collection Fiji director and chief executive officer Gareth Van Eyssen echoed similar sentiments.
“Yasawa is a very special place. It’s naturally gifted with the reefs and the topography of the islands,” he said.
“There’s not a lot of separation between the islands, but the people are quite different in their ways and their cultures.
“It’s such a special experience for guests to start at the bottom, work their way to the top, and meet all the different people and experience all the different things that the Yasawas have to offer.”
Mr Eyssen said more focus needed to be placed on the quality of guests travelling to Fiji.
“Fiji is a very special place and we should attract special people that want to visit Fiji.
