Tourist property ends year on a high note

WHILE some Nadi tourist properties faced a few challenges because of weather events earlier in the year, the Tokatoka Resort, Nadi, says 2018 was its best year yet.

Resort general manager Nasoni Tamani said the upsurge in business was the direct result of the commitment of his staff and support from management. “We did very well this year, much better than 2017 and even better than previous years,” he said.

“And I want to acknowledge my 105 staff for their outstanding commitment to delivering the best service to our guests and the management for being very supportive.

“We are, by and large, a resort that caters to guests who are transiting on their way in or way out of the country and we take that role very seriously. “Apart from the transit market, our biggest earner was the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing, events) market and we hosted quite a large number of small conferences at Tokatoka.

“And for us, the local market is also a big factor.”

Mr Tamani said 2019 would present a few challenges for the property with the opening of new resorts in the Wailoaloa area.

“2019 will see the opening of Pullman Nadi Bay so it will be quite interesting to see how that develops.

“We have a brand new executive chef Joe Fiu who has come across from the Warwick Fiji and we are upgrading our food and beverage outlet and will be introducing new menus too.”
