We are projecting to finish 2022 with over 600,000 guests having travelled to Fiji, says Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill.
He made the comment on Thursday during a press conference in Nadi commemorating Fiji’s one-year anniversary of international border re-opening.
“We thank not just our tourism industry, but tourists as well. For traveling to Fiji, for embracing our protocols and choosing to travel to our beautiful island nation,” he said.
Mr Hill said more importantly, the International Visitor Survey (IVS) showed that trip satisfaction had grown from 89 per cent prior to COVID to 93 per cent.
“It proves that, if it were possible, people are even more happy and happiness finds you in Fiji.
“We have seen tourists spending more which is up by 12 per cent and staying longer (9.7 nights).”
He said next year, they are hoping to welcome back Japan and Hong Kong services, opening Fiji to key markets again in Asia.
“With the success of our re-opening, investments are now coming into Fiji and we look forward to the renovations at the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa and Pullman Nadi Bay Resort and Spa Fiji progressing.”
He said there had been significant announcement of new luxury resorts being committed in the Yasawas whereas many resorts had completed or would complete renovations early next year.
