Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Dr Paresh Pant says the safety and wellbeing of all visitors to Fiji is paramount.

Responding to concerns about the tragic drowning of a five-year-old tourist who was visiting the Coral Coast with her family, Dr Paresh urged visitors to take care during periods of adverse weather.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss, and our heartfelt condolences are with the child’s family during this profoundly difficult time,” he said.

“Our thoughts are also with those in the community who have been affected.

“The safety and wellbeing of all visitors to Fiji is something we care deeply about.

“While Tourism Fiji does not regulate or manage tourism activities, we encourage visitors to take care during periods of adverse weather and be guided by official tourism operators and weather updates as conditions in natural environments can change quickly.”

Dr Paresh also acknowledged the ongoing investigations into the alleged drowning incident.

Questions sent to the Ministry of Tourism yesterday remained unanswered.
