AN inaugural in-person industry talanoa session was recently hosted by Tourism Fiji in partnership with Fiji Airways for Coral Coast tourism operators since Fiji’s post-COVID reopening.
In a statement, Tourism Fiji said the session held at the Warwick Fiji Resort brought together about 30 partners from the Coral Coast region up to Pacific Harbour, alongside key international trade representatives from Australia and New Zealand.
“The platform enabled open and practical discussions on the challenges facing the Coral Coast region and how industry stakeholders can work more closely together to drive sustainable growth.”
Tourism Fiji said with visitor arrival patterns beginning to stabilise across key markets, discussions focused strongly on seasonality, particularly the return of shoulder and low seasons and the importance of planning coordinated tactical campaigns to stimulate demand during these periods.
“Operators and trade partners also explored opportunities to increase global visibility, better align product offerings with market needs and collectively strengthen the Coral Coast’s value proposition,” Tourism Fiji added.
Chief executive officer of Tourism Fiji Dr Paresh Pant said the talanoa sessions were a critical part of ensuring the national tourism strategy remains grounded in industry realities.
“These talanoa sessions allow us to listen directly to our industry partners, understand the challenges they are facing on the ground and work together on practical solutions,” he said.
“As markets stabilise, collaboration becomes even more important, particularly in addressing seasonality through well-planned, tactical campaigns that support regions like the Coral Coast while protecting Fiji’s long-term tourism sustainability.
“Insights gathered from the Coral Coast discussions will help inform future marketing activity and collaborative initiatives aimed at driving demand while supporting sustainable, well-distributed tourism growth across Fiji.”
The session was attended by Dr Pant, regional directors and chief marketing officers, Fiji Airways chief marketing and sales officers and head office staff, as well as trade partners from Fusion Holidays, Ignite Travel and House of Travel.
