A 24-year-old tour guide is among several men charged in serious sexual offence cases highlighted in the January 2026 statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
According to the report, the 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape, four counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault involving a 25-year-old woman and a 51-year-old Chinese national.
The accused was engaged as a tour guide and had been booked to provide diving and snorkelling services during the visitors’ stay in Fiji.
In a separate matter, a 30-year-old man was charged with the rape of a six-year-old girl. The accused is known to the victim’s family.
The ODPP statistics also detailed a case involving a 40-year-old man charged with rape, sexual assault and indecent assault of a 17-year-old girl. However, the matter was discontinued after the victim could not be contacted or located before and during trial.
In another incident, a 57-year-old man was charged with eight counts of sexual assault of a 38-year-old woman. Proceedings were later discontinued following the victim’s death, which was unrelated to the alleged assaults.
