COCA-COLA Games boys champions Natabua High School is expecting a tough competition at this year’s games.
And with six of their gold medal prospects no longer in the school, the side is expected to face stiff competition from top schools such as Ratu Kadavulevu School and Marist Brothers High School.
Team manager Rusiate Wadali said they understood that this year was going to be a tough year because they were going to defend the boys’ title.
“We trust our students, we trust our athletes and we trust our coaches who can deliver despite the tough challenges.
“There are good athletes that have gone out of our team, but with the remaining athletes, we trust that we are going to put up a good show.”
Reigning blue ribbon champion Shane Tuvusa is a notable athlete who will inspire the team to do well.
“Shane will again run for Natabua this year and we are still trying to use him in his favourite events such as the 400m and the 200m.””
We have tried him today in his usual 400m and we are trying to see which event he will run with the best time.
“We are trying to build him to defend the blue ribbon, but his strength is in the middle distance.
“With the endurance he has developed over the years, he has proven to be an all-rounder.”
Wadali has called on the Natabua stakeholders to trust the team and the teachers in their quest to do well at the zone and the 2018 Coca-Cola Games.
