THE Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s team finds itself with formidable company for the Vancouver 7s and head coach Osea Kolinisau says each game will be taken in stride when they finally meet their opponents.
In getting to the point where competition readiness becomes paramount and nothing can be left to chance as they count down the days to when the leg kicks off, there is an added emphasis on what will unfold and how it must do so.
“What we’re doing right now is looking at our mistakes and taking one game at a time,” Kolinisau stressed.
Fiji is grouped with Australia, Argentina and France in Pool B, and the grouping is a meeting of familiar foes in previous legs of the 2025/26 HSBC SVNS.
The team has been working on correcting the errors since such blunders have cost them in previous legs, especially when a definite shot to victory was imminent.
And in ensuring they get the job done after weeks of training and preparation, the team is not taking any of their opponents lightly.
“We cannot overlook any team or assume it’s going to be easy. Our plan has always been, let’s take one game at a time, because every game is a part of the plan,” he mentioned.
In the company of Argentina and France, teams the national side has lost to in previous legs and weighed up against heavily with the force packed into their teams, Kolinisau has regarded them highly.
“We cannot overlook Argentina or overlook France. Let’s just focus on one game at a time and let’s stay there.
“After we finish the game, let’s focus on the next one and make sure we give our 100 and the respect to the team we want to play.”
The Vancouver 7s kicks off this Saturday, with the semis and final scheduled for Sunday.
