The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the CR-V a “2013 Top Safety Pick.” IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal or poor based on performance in front and side crash tests, a rollover test, and evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. To earn Top Safety Pick for 2013, a vehicle must have good ratings in four Institute tests.

The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the CR-V a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score rating. Every CR-V is equipped with a host of standard safety features, including Advanced Compatibility Engineeringâ„¢ (ACEâ„¢) body structure, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control and active front head restraints.
