The semi-finals of the 2022 Skipper Cup competition will be held next weekend. Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O’Connor confirmed this yesterday.
“There will be a break this week giving time to the four teams to prepare for the semi-finals,” O’Connor said.
The FRU head added it was one of the toughest seasons in the competition.
“The semi-finalists would be glad to have finished in the top four positions.
“We saw very close matches this year. Apart from a couple where the margin was blown out, other matches proved to be very competitive.”
Nadi will host Suva while Naitasiri will play Nadroga. Nadi is expected to host their semi-final at Prince Charles Park while Naitasiri will either choose Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, or its home ground at Naluwai .
O’Connor added fans can expect some good rugby in the semi-finals to decide which teams play in the final.
“If the round robin is anything to go by, expect some crackling rugby in the semi-finals. It is knockout rugby and all four teams will have an eye on the final.”
Results from the round robin: R1: Suva 20-12 Nadi, Naitasiri 29-27 Nadroga. R2: Nadi 25-24 Suva, Nadroga 30-22 Naitasiri.
