The best romances often start off as friendships, some say.

That is because the purity of a friendship allows people to first test character without the influence of passion.

The same can be said about newlywed, Timoci and Terah Naco who said “I do” in front of more than 300 guests at The Pearl Resort this month.

Timoci Naco, who hails from Rokovuaka, Nalawa, Ra said his family were family friends with Terah’s family.

“Her family attends our church occasionally, a couple of times in a year our church members would go down to the Coral Coast Christian Camp site, in Deuba, which Terah’s parents were managing at that time.

Terah Naco, originally from Bundaberg Queensland, Australia, said her family moved to Fiji when she was eight months old.

“We lived in Fiji for 14 years, my parents served as missionaries at the Coral Coast Christian Camp in Pacific Harbour. We migrated back to Australia in 2010 where I completed my schooling,” said Mrs Naco.

The couple had little contact after Terah’s family had moved back to Australia.

“After a couple years we met up again in Fiji a little after the Christmas of 2016 when I came to Fiji to visit friends. The first thing he said when he picked me up from the airport, was ‘Bula, welcome home. That’s where it all started,” she said with a smile.

Timoci said in October, 2017, after dating for over year, he dreamt that he had proposed to his wife on the night of her graduation of her Discipleship Training School (DTS with YWAM).

“After waking from my dream I prayed about it, whether or not it was really from God or just a dream.”

A couple of weeks later, while the couple was traveling and talking, they found out that they had dreamt the same dream. Terah said she felt embarrassed after revealing her dream to Jim.

“He looked shocked and didn’t say anything. I thought it sounded like I was pushing him to propose to me and I thought this was awkward. I did not know Jim was just freaking out inside because it was the exact same dream he had,” she said.

“Jim downplayed it to try not to give it away but he said he knew this was definitely a God moment and this was the way he was going to do it,” she added.

Mr Naco said in March, 2018, he asked for Terah’s hand in marriage. “After that night we started planning for our big day,” he said.

“Our wedding was held at the Pearl Resort. We dressed the traditional Fijian wedding attire for the service and western attire for the reception. It was a dream come true for both of us,” said Mr Naco.

“The exchanging of wedding vows was the most memorable moment for me. And as for my wife, walking back along the aisle for the first time with me as her husband was her favourite part of our big day.

“Firstly we would like to thank the Lord for His grace, that He doesn’t give us what we deserve rather He blesses us with the best”.
