It all began with an idea. Mainz wine merchant Adam Henkell discovered the fine art of champagne-making in France.
Back at his home, he successfully managed the “marriage” of the French art of cuvée and the art of German cellar-mastery.
In 1856, he started making outstanding sparkling wine following the French example and this marked the beginning of a unique success story.
