Mere Biucavu begins her day before sunrise, planning meals for the food business she runs in Suva.
Shopping plays a vital role in her work. She does small daily trips for fresh ingredients and reserves larger grocery shopping for weekends, when she buys meat and bulk items at better prices from Tebara Supermarket in Vatuwaqa.
By balancing local and imported products, she keeps her meals affordable without compromising quality.
The business began with her mother, who baked cakes and pies to support the family. After her father retired and later passed away, Mrs Biucavu took over the venture when she had her first child, while her mother helped care for the baby.
Today, she supplies meals to offices including Westpac, Bank of South Pacific and The Fiji Times.
Working alongside her twin sister and mother, she prepares two menu options daily, proving that dedication, family support and cooking talent can build a successful livelihood.
