Fiji’s acting ambassador-at-large Mosese Tikoitoga is the island nation’s new high commissioner to Papua New Guinea.
He was officially commissioned by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House in Suva today.
He said the reopening of the PNG High Commission in Port Moresby would ensure the legacies of friendship, mutual respect, understanding, and allegiance established by Fiji’s founding forefathers – Ratu Sir Kamesese Mara and Sir Michael Thomas Somare, as well as the efforts of past mission heads, were maintained and carried forward.
Mr Tikoitoga said he was honoured to be appointed as Fiji’s new High Commissioner to PNG.
He said Fiji and PNG established bilateral diplomatic relations in 1976 , which would contribute to their success as fellow Melanesians and development partners.
Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs Dr Lesikimacuata Korovavala was also in attendance at the commissioning ceremony.
