WHILE Narendra Modi’s visit has been labelled the most significant in recent times, many onlookers were amazed by his bulletproof car and security procedures.
Mr Modi’s car, a BMW 7 Series, which was brought into the country in an Indian Air force plane boasts state-of-the-art security features.
The car protects its occupants from everything ranging from bombs to advanced rifle fire.
The vehicle can also run on flat tyres for miles and has advanced heat sensors to debar bombs and missiles.
Moreover, the fuel tank of the vehicle doesn’t explode even when the car comes under attack and is fired upon.
The cabin turns into a gas proof chamber in case of a gas attack.
While security was extremely tight, Mr Modi was accompanied by 20 security personnel from India.
He also had commandoes fully armed in vehicles and a full medical team on stand-by.
Avikash Prasad of Nausori, who was present at Suva’s Albert Park to witness Mr Modi’s arrival, said he was stunned to see the security procedures involved during the Indian PM’s tour.
Mr Prasad said it was amazing to see how security was provided for a Prime Minister of a big democracy.
