Nadi and Malolo will clash in what promises to be a thrilling first Skipper Cup semi-final at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this Saturday.
Both sides earned their spots after producing some of the most exciting rugby of the season in last weekend’s quarter-finals.
Malolo caused one of the biggest upsets of the tournament when they edged out Nadroga 23-22 in a tightly contested match at Lawaqa Park.
Nadi, meanwhile, stunned Suva with an incredible second-half comeback to win 34-29 at Churchill Park.
Nadi Rugby Union vice-president Jeff Tamata said the side was keeping their focus on improving and sticking to what has worked for them so far.
“The coaching staff will work hard on our weaknesses and try to improve and make our game stronger.
“The key message to the boys this week is to believe in themselves, trust in our game pattern, and trust in our system,” Tamata said.
Nadi’s performance against Suva showed resilience and character, bouncing back after trailing in the first half.
Their forward pack led the charge with strong carries, while the backs finished with precision and pace.
The team will once again rely on that balance between power and structure to overcome a spirited Malolo side.
Malolo, have been one of the surprise packages of the 2025 season.
Their victory over Nadroga highlighted their growth, discipline, and ability to handle pressure in big moments.
Their young players have stepped up impressively, supported by experienced leaders who have been key in maintaining team composure during close contests.
Saturday’s showdown is expected to be fast, physical, and full of flair as both teams play open, attacking rugby.
For Nadi, the focus will be on maintaining structure and discipline in defence, while Malolo will aim to capitalise on any loose play with their quick counterattacks.
With a place in the 2025 Skipper Cup final on the line, both sides are expected to leave everything on the field in front of what should be a passionate crowd at the HFC Bank Stadium.
In the second semi-final, Naitasiri will take on Tailevu.
