Three-year-old boy drowns in Wainibuka river

A three-year-old boy from Burelevu Village in Saivou, Ra is believed to be the latest drowning victim after an incident at the Wainibuka River yesterday afternoon.

Police say the child allegedly slipped out of his home unnoticed and went to swim in the river.

Family members raised the alarm after realising he was missing, prompting villagers to form a search party.

The boy’s body was later found along the riverbank and was conveyed to Wainimaro Hospital by relatives.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
