Three tertiary male students have been charged for the murder of a 30-year-old man whose body was found at Nauluvatu Settlement on Sunday morning.
The trio, comprising of two 19-year-old students and one 20-year-old are alleged to have been drinking with the victim at the settlement just hours before his body was discovered by a resident.
Authorities confirmed that the group was consuming alcohol together on Saturday night and early Sunday morning prior to the tragic find.
After close consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), The Fiji Police Force formally laid charges against the three students.
They have been jointly charged with the murder under sections 237, 45 and 46 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
“The three were jointly charged for the offences of murder,” a police spokesperson said.
The decision followed a thorough review of the evidence by the DPP’s office.
The three accused are scheduled to appear at the Suva Magistrate Court today to face charges.
