Three juveniles remanded as Wailoku robbery case moves to High Court

Three juveniles charged in relation to an aggravated robbery case in Wailoku were further remanded in custody after their matter was adjourned to January 20, when it will be heard in the High Court.

The accused, aged 16 and 17 years, appeared before Magistrate Vinaina Diroiroi at the Suva Magistrates Court two yesterday.

The court was told the matter was to be transferred to the High Court due to the seriousness of the alleged offences.

Magistrate Diroidroi adjourned the case to January 20 and ordered that the accused persons remain in remand.

The charges were formally read to the accused during the court appearance.

No bail application was made, and the court noted that the accused were juveniles.

Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged aggravated robbery or the items said to have been stolen.

However, police confirmed that investigations had been completed, resulting in the three being charges.

The case has attracted public attention due to the young ages of the accused and the serious nature of the charges.

Aggravated robbery is considered a serious offence under the law and carries heavy penalties if proven in court.
