In a stride towards their shared goal of uplifting woman entrepreneurs, South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) and the Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, MSMEs and Communications organised a business training workshop in Taveuni.

The Improve Your Business training workshop was attended by 16 women members of SPBD.

The women attained Certificates of Completion after three days of training.

Chief guest Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran conferred the certificates at a ceremony last week Thursday.

One of the 16 participants, Georgina Tawake thanked the organisers for helping the group grow their businesses and realise their entrepreneurial goals.

“The training has helped us identify our weaknesses and problem areas, learn about new business ideas and also helped us do proper business planning and marketing as well,” Ms Tawake said.

With significant economic weight resting on micro, small and medium enterprises, the upskilling of small business owners who have otherwise operated without any formal business training plays a key role in the economic development of the nation.

With the popularity of business training workshops for micro entrepreneurs, many Fijians have now been offered the tools necessary to grow an idea into a functional and sustainable business, enabling them to contribute more significantly to their households and to society at large.

The SPBD Improve Your Business training workshop was facilitated by MSME business trainer for the Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, SMEs and Communications Mohammed Aslam Khan.
