THREE out of four elevators at the Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital in Suva have been installed successfully and are operating, says Assistant Health Minister Penioni Ravunawa.
Mr Ravunawa said the Ministry of Health and Medical Services had so far spent $1million on the project.
“The fourth lift is to be placed in the West wing of the over 100-year-old hospital building,” Mr Ravunawa said.
“The engineers are doing a feasibility study to see if the building structure can withstand the new lift.”
He said the feasibility study was in progress.
“It’s work in progress.
“Also, it is good to note that there are alternative pathways to meet the hospital service needs for the time being,” Mr Ravunawa said.
