PORT Denarau came alive on New Year’s Eve as thousands of locals flocked to the tourist hot spot to ring in 2026.

They travelled from as far as Sigatoka to the marina where restaurants opened until midnight for patrons looking to celebrate the new year.

Thirty-five-year-old Mukesh Chand travelled from Lomawai with his family.

“We wanted to celebrate new year differently this year so we decided to come to Port Denarau because we know they always have a New Year’s Eve party,” he said.

“I hope to come again next year.”
