The interim chief executive officer of the Fijian Drua Brian Thorburn said the side was gaining momentum after 22 players signed their contracts for next season’s Super Rugby Pacific competition.
Thorburn said it was a historic occasion to secure the services of a young and upcoming players.
“We’re gaining momentum now,” he said.
“Fans will notice a strong focus on our young stars coming through the domestic ranks.
“Fans will also note the return of former NRC Drua players. Many of these players know each and members of the wider squad, which is a great plus.”
He said most of the players had came through the domestic high performance development pathway.
“Those programs are doing a wonderful job in identifying, nurturing and building talents.”
The Fijian Drua would continue its recruitment drive with the unveiling of more players and officials before the competitions starts next February.
The team is scheduled to start camp in Australia from next month.
