FIJI’S long-standing tradition of devotion and singing has captured the hearts of other athletes in the Olympic Games village in Paris.
Australian swimmer Tilly Kearns captured on video the mesmerizing voices of Team Fiji athletes as they sang the hymn ‘Mo Ravi vei Jisu’ which echoed over the Games Village during one of their devotions.
The swimmer captioned the video, “best seat in the house next to the Fijians, all different cultures here will never get old”.
She showed athletes from other countries coming out to their balconies to listen to our national reps.
While Fijians may consider this a regular practice, it has quickly become something that can be identified in the Team Fiji culture no matter where they go to compete.
Fiji 7s trainer Ian Gibbons has stated his biggest takeaway so far is Team Fiji’s family-oriented culture and their daily devotions.
