After months of planning, training, and teamwork, the wait is finally over.
This Saturday, October 25, 2025, the much-anticipated Paddle for Cancer will see paddlers from the Nadi Bay Canoe Club (NBCC) and resort teams from Castaway Island Resort, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, and Six Senses Fiji take on the 36-kilometre ocean challenge from Castaway Island Resort to Aquarius on the Beach, Wailoaloa — all united under one cause: to support the fight against cancer in Fiji.
Now in its second year running, Paddle for Cancer continues to grow stronger, fuelled by compassion, community spirit, and the legacy of Christian Pesamino, a former NBCC paddler who lost his battle with leukaemia at a young age.
His memory lives on through this event, which proudly supports the Christian Pesamino Leukaemia Foundation, dedicated to providing compassionate care and much-needed support to individuals and families affected by cancer across Fiji.
This week marks the culmination of months of effort — early morning practices, cross-resort training sessions, and behind-the-scenes organising by volunteers, sponsors, and paddlers.
The collaboration between NBCC and the resorts has not only built endurance on the water, but also strengthened bonds of friendship and community.
As the canoes set out on Saturday morning, each stroke will carry a message of hope, remembrance, and unity.
The ocean becomes more than a racecourse — it becomes a reflection of resilience and love.
The Paddle for Cancer stands as a powerful reminder that together, communities can make waves of change.
The Paddle for Cancer Executive Committee extends heartfelt appreciation to all who have contributed to this journey — from sponsors and resort partners to every volunteer who has given their time and heart.
