The Information Technology and Computing Services of Government has advertised for the installation of satellite internet connectivity at the residence of the prime minister, a school and the village hall at Drekiniwai Village in Cakaudrove.
The tender advertisement stated this was part of the PM’s commitment.
It also stated the solar-powered satellite system will need to have three outdoor access points.
These will be to cater for the PM’s residence, school and village hall.
The satellite connectivity system also needs to have an indoor access point for wireless access.
“This is for the village of Drekeniwai, located in Vanua Levu. The latitude and longitude will be relatively close to -16.672088, 179.677845,” stated the tender document.
“With provisions for a 5M download/50M upload and a data cap of 50GB/monthly – we are estimating a total of more than 100 users.
“Prices should be quoted in Fijian currency, duty paid, VIP (VAT inclusive prices) and delivered to the Office of the Prime Minister for local suppliers and cost and freight (C&F) sea, Suva and C&F air, Suva basis for overseas suppliers.”
Under the Parliamentary Remuneration Act of 2014, the prime minister is eligible to receive a telephone at his official residence, which is free fixed and internet connection. Applications for the tender close on February 21.
