THE Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma will work with other stakeholders to provide temporary shelters for students of Vuci Methodist School in Nausori.
A fire at the school last Friday evening destroyed six of its classrooms.
This was confirmed by Education secretary for the church, Waisake Ravatu, who said they did not want this to be a setback for the students since the new school year had just begun.
“We do not want to prevent students from continuing with their studies since we have just begun the year so stakeholders need to get together in order to build temporary shelters for the students,” Mr Ravatu said.
A library room and a computer room made of corrugated iron and wooden frames were also destroyed in the fire, said police spokesperson Ana Naisoro.
More than 10 firefighters and two trucks were involved in tying to put out the fire that also severely threatened the neighbouring Eady’s store along Vuci Rd.
Police also confirmed that the cause and cost of the damage was still yet to be ascertained as investigations continue.
