The body of Avick Avinesh Chand was found at around 2.30 pm today along the Wailevu River in Labasa.
It is alleged the 19-year-old was fishing along the riverbank with his father when he slipped, fell into the water and disappeared.
The Fiji Police Force said the case was reported to the Labasa Police Station over the weekend.
Police said search operations had been suspended earlier due to strong currents and muddy waters, but resumed today.
He is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.
