Technology award benefits consumers

HYUNDAI Motor has been awarded the Technology award for its green technologies by Auto Express in their annual New Car Awards.

The company has been recognised as the first manufacturer to offer its customers a complete range of eco-technologies; which include Blue Drive models across the line-up, the All-New IONIQ — the world’s first car offering three electrified powertrains, and the ix35 Fuel Cell — the first commercially available hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle.

Auto Express & Carbuyer editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said: “The award has been given to the manufacturer that we feel has introduced really innovative and useful technology that will truly benefit the consumer. Hyundai is the first car maker who’ll be offering buyers a full mix of eco-friendly technologies. In the IONIQ you’ll be able to choose from affordable hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions – all in a really appealing package. And, of course, Hyundai was the first manufacturer to offer UK buyers a fuel cell vehicle in the ix35”

Hyundai Motor UK President & CEO Tony Whitehorn said: “To receive this award is a great honour and testament to our ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our vehicles. With our latest model, IONIQ, we are now able to offer our customers even greater choice with a vehicle designed and engineered from the start to offer hybrid, electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.”

Mr Fowler continued: “When it comes to tech, being first is vital, but more important is making it affordable and attractive — and that’s exactly what Hyundai is doing.”

Hyundai Motor Group is investing heavily in relevant low-emission technologies and will be introducing 28 low-emission models by 2020 — including new Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid, Electric and dedicated Fuel Cell vehicles.
