STRONG winds and heavy rain was experienced in Sydney yesterday but it won’t deter our sevens gladiators.
Head coach of the Vodafone Fiji 7s team Ben Ryan said rain or sunshine, the team was ready to take on the best at the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Sydney 7s this weekend.
Our national team completed their training under wet conditions yesterday morning and headed back to the team camp at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney to change to warmer clothing.
Ryan said even if it rained during the tournament it would not affect their game-plan.
“If it rains that’s all good. We can play in any weather and the boys are used to the rain at home,” Ryan said.
“Weather is due to be dry and sunny at the weekend.”
But a full packed Allianz Stadium is not expected to disrupt how the team performs as Ryan has given his players some very valuable messages.
Ryan said he wanted his players to enjoy their games.
His message was simple: “Enjoy it. Play for each other.
“Be accurate, brave and in control.”
Fiji comes into the Sydney 7s second on the overall series points standing with 52 points behind South Africa at 54 points.
