The national squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland next month has been named today.
A delegation of 58 members from eight sports make up Team Fiji.
Team Fiji will compete in eight sports; athletics, basketball 3×3, bowling, boxing, judo, para athletics, swimming, weightlifting.
Of the eight sports, basketball 3×3 for the men and women along with para athletics and weightlifting were the sports which had direct qualification pathways or bipartite invitations.
Vanessa Kilner, chief executive of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) extended her congratulations to the athletes named.
“Earning the opportunity to represent our nation at the Commonwealth Games is a significant achievement that reflect years of dedication, discipline and sacrifice.
“We are confident Team Fiji will represent our nation with pride, integrity and excellence in Glasgow.”
FASANOC also thanked the athletes who missed out on selection despite commitment shown in the qualification period.
Team Fiji will be led by Chef de Mission, Ajay Ballu and general manager Jane Wong-Niubalavu.
The Commonwealth Games kicks off on July 23 and finishes on August 2.
