FIJI’s textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) capability was showcased to over 900 manufacturers and suppliers from more than 15 countries around the world, attracting keen interest from buyers, industry leaders and other key stakeholders.
This was made possible through the participation of the TCF Council of Fiji at the Australian Sourcing Fair held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 19 to 21.
“The Australian Sourcing Fair provided an excellent platform for the TCF Council of Fiji to showcase the capabilities and competitiveness of Fijian manufacturers,” TCF Council of Fiji president Inbamalar Wanarajan said in a statement issued this week.
“The Council’s booth, featuring a diverse array of high-quality products and services from Fijian apparel producers, attracted keen interest from buyers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.”
Held annually in Australia — Fiji’s biggest TCF export market — the event provided members with the opportunity to meet their client and suppliers from across the globe.
“Fiji is small, but an important player in smaller runs, geographic location, niche markets which presents regional clients a unique base to source from,” Ms Wanarajan said.
The show was an opportunity for its members to network and build relationships with offshore buyers and suppliers.
“Fiji showcased a diverse range of products, its manufacturing capabilities, and its unique proposition in the market.” A seminar presentation by Kookai managing director Robert Cromb, Tracy Farrington, Ellen Whippy Knight and Temesia Tuicaumia titled: “The Fiji Fashion Explosion” provided a comprehensive discussion about the opportunities and challenges within the Fijian fashion and manufacturing industry, Ms Wanarajan added.
Nilesh Jamnadas from Danam Fiji Pte. Ltd, Kaushik Kumar from United Apparel (Fiji) Pte. Ltd and Shabana Azmin from Nagsun Apparel Pte. Ltd represented their respective companies under the TCF Council of Fiji banner.
