Taxi permits under spotlight

Fifty-five taxi permits obtained through improper means in the Western Division are currently under the spotlight as the Land Transport Authority issued a public call for assistance.

Acting chief executive officer Irimaia Rokosawa has warned they will not tolerate any form of corruption or fraudulent activity within the organisation and aimed to confiscate the number plates and taxi permits involved.

He said preliminary investigations were underway to delve into the specifics of the alleged improper issuance of taxi permits as they were committed to identifying and neutralising any individual outside the organisation who may have been involved.
