Republic of Fiji Military Forces Deputy Commander Commodore Humphrey Tawake has highlighted the significance of strategic vision in decision-making.

Commodore Tawake told the opening of the Veiliutaki Framework Lead Systems this week that just as important in the changing roles of modern military leadership were effective communication and the complexities of the current strategic military environment.

He said leadership was about understanding the processes within an organisation.

“System leadership is about building a culture in which systems approaches can flourish,” Commodore Tawake said.

“System leaders are the tone for an organisation to work more systematically and encourage the staff to embed systems-based approaches in their work.

“It will be transformative in nature and will require accountability and transparency in delivering roles as a systems leader.”

The course is designed to empower RFMF majors, captains and warrant officer level leaders.
