TAVEUNI coach Zoheb Shah says his side must tighten up defensively after bouncing back with a dominant 4-1 win over Rakiraki in the senior division of the FMF Inter-District Championship yesterday.
Shah said the victory was an important response after the team’s disappointing result in its previous match.
“It was not a good result, but we managed to do it in our last pool match. All the glory and thanks to God. He has been with us since we started this IDC,” Shah said.
While pleased with the players’ effort, Shah admitted there were areas that needed attention before their semi-final.
“The players’ performance was good, but we made some mistakes. We have to go back to the game and see what we can do,” he said.
“We have to be harder on the boys to get to the semi-finals.”
Shah said the team would also discuss some concerns in its backline and work with the players to identify what went wrong.
“We have to consider it and talk to the boys. We have to ask them what the problem is and go back to camp and see what we can do,” he said.
The coach also dedicated the victory to two members of the team, Charlie and Noani.
He said one of their goalkeepers had returned home to be with his family for the birth of a baby girl.
He also acknowledged the support of sponsor, which came on board at the last minute.
Shah said Taveuni would use the semi-final as an opportunity to prove their strength.
