The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) is in the process of establishing a Tax Crimes Task Force.

FRCS states this new initiative aims to enhance tax compliance, prevent tax evasion, and improve revenue collection through effective enforcement and collaboration with relevant agencies.

It is now seeking expressions of interest from individuals to join the task force with the objective of enhancing the legislative framework to address tax crimes effectively, increasing detection and prosecution of tax evasion and avoidance cases, strengthening collaboration with other agencies to combat financial crimes and improving the mechanisms for capturing and analysing tax-related information.

“The task force will review and recommend improvements to existing legislation and processes and review current processes and re-develop frameworks for investigating, enforcing and prosecuting undisclosed income and financial non-compliance,” states FRCS.

The task force will collaborate with key agencies to address tax evasion and financial crimes and use evidence-based information from various sources to support investigations.

It will also implement measures to protect revenue and ensure compliance with legal standards and maintain strict data privacy and security protocols.

Those with expertise in tax crimes, forensic accounting, anti-money laundering, extensive business or law enforcement experience and related fields are urged to apply.

“Applications will be reviewed by the CEO and Board of FRCS. The remuneration for task force members will be determined by the CEO of FRCS.”
