Former All Blacks centre Setareki Tamanivalu tied the knot with his long time sweetheart Brittany Coates in front of close family members and friends at the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa on Denarau Island in Nadi yesterday.
The event was attended by about 50 people including former Crusaders and current Western Force winger Manasa Mataele, Bristol Bears centre Semi Radradra, Japanese 7s player Joe Lilidamu and former Wallaby winger Etonia Nabuli.
Setareki Tamanivalu Sr said his son was supposed to get married last year, but could not because of the COVID-19 travel restrictions.
“Today is a happy day for the family,” Tamanivalu Snr said.
“We are happy to see them get married. We have travelled overseas to watch Seta play in Super Rugby and for the All Blacks.”
The Robust centre earned five Test caps for the All Blacks and now plys his trade in Japan with Toshiba Brave Lupus based in Tokyo.
He is one of the first Fijian players to commit to the country of his origin after representing another nation following World Rugby’s change in the eligibility laws.
Tamanivalu Sr said the family had always dreamt of his son representing the country of his birth.
“For Seta to be named in the Flying Fijians side is such a proud moment for all of us,” he said.
Coates and Setareki have two sons Ricky and Viliame.
