Extra Supermarket Labasa FC’s goalkeeper, Simione Tamanisau, who clinched the prestigious Golden Glove at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), has been named in the Digicel Bula Boys 29-member extended squad.

The squad is set to prepare for the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers.

Tamanisau’s inclusion follows his stellar performance during the IDC, where his resilience and sharp reflexes earned him wide praise.

Alongside him, Labasa’s star striker Christopher Wasasala and defender Sekove Naivakananumi, who also shone during the FMF IDC 2024, have been called up for the national squad.

Both players were key figures in Labasa’s success at the tournament and are expected to play vital roles in the national team setup.

The extended squad boasts a mix of local talents and international stars, as the Fiji Football Association seeks to build a formidable team.

Stafford Rangers defender Scott Wara and Charlton Athletic defender Josh Qereqeretabua headline the overseas-based players.

Nadi FC’s promising goalkeeper Joela Biuvanua has also earned a spot after a series of impressive performances in domestic competitions.

The team is set to begin camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba on Sunday, October 29, where the players will prepare for the rigorous World Cup Qualifiers.

With the competition fast approaching, head coach Flemming Serritslev is expected to focus on fine-tuning team chemistry and tactics to ensure Fiji stands strong against its regional rivals.

Football fans across the nation will be eagerly awaiting the final squad selection, with hopes high that Fiji can qualify for its first-ever FIFA World Cup.
