The FIJI Water Flying Fijians will begin their Autumn Nations against England next Sunday at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham.

In the buildup to the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Fiji created history by securing their first-ever victory against the Red Roses 33-22 in front of over 30,000 crowd in Twickenham.

The two teams met again in the 2023 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals where England narrowly beat Fiji 30-24 to progress to the semi-finals.

Fiji mounted a great comeback in the second half to level the scores but a late drop goal and a penalty to England captain Owen Farrell denied our Flying Fijians their first ever RWC semi-final appearance.

Next week’s series opener presents the opportunity for the Flying Fijians to avenge their quarter-final exit.

Head coach Mick Byrne says matching the English upfront and playing the game at pace with our trademark free-flowing Fijian flair, will be vital if they are to upset the opposition on their home turf.

“For the England game we just want to be physical. We want to see some real physicality from our boys and play the game at pace. Go out there and play the game the way we know we can play the game,” Mick said.

Mick is adamant not to repeat past mistakes by avoiding catch up rugby.

“Take it to them. Just get on the front foot and go after the game and put in a performance. If we can put in a great performance, the result will take care of itself.”

Next Sunday’s match will kick off at 5.40am.
