Taira, Ratu help in team promotion

FIJIAN duo Jovilisi Taira and Michael Ratu helped Rochdale Hornets promoted to the Kingstone Press Championship.

Hornets shocked the unbeaten host Toulouse Olympique after turning round a 16-0 score line.

The www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/ reported the result means Hornets will be promoted to The Championship for 2017 and Toulouse Olympique was to get a second bite of the cherry as they host York last week.

According to Wikipedia, League 1, also known as Kingstone Press League is a semi-professional rugby league competition in the United Kingdom.

It is the country’s third-tier competition, below the Championship with which it has promotion and relegation.

Taira joined the club in the off-season from Mayfield. He went to the UK in his quest to join Her Majesty the Queen’s army but diverted his course to playing rugby league after winning the 2008 Coke Zero Deans trophy with the Lelean Memorial School under-19 rugby union team.

Meanwhile in 2012 Ratu signed for Rochdale Hornets. He played for the Fiji Bati in the 2009 Pacific Cup.
