Tailevu ready for nationals

THE Tailevu primary schools athletics team are stepping up their preparation for the upcoming Tukers Games.

With an addition of seven schools to their zone, has seen an increase in the number of athletes participating in this year’s annual primary schools meet for the Tailevu team.

“In terms of number of athletes we have around 118 athletes from the U9 grade right up to the U14 grades in the boys and girls division” according to Mr. Viliame Gucake the head coach of the Tailevu primary schools athletics team. Tailevu won 4 gold last year and came fourth in the boys division, this year the team is optimistic of a stronger finish.

“In terms of preparations, this is our second week and we have seen a big improvement from the beginning of the zone till today,” Gucake said.

“And we are optimistic of a good outing this year, and our target is to get at least 10 golds this year.”

The Tuckers Games will start next thursday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
