HISTORY was made by Tailevu North College under-18 side after they defeated Lelean Memorial School 13-12 in the playoffs of the Vodafone Deans Trophy Eastern Zone competition at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.

This victory marks the first time the school qualified for the national quarter-finals, making them the third representative school from their zone.

Manasa Kaitabu, the U18 manager, expressed immense pride in the team’s performance, referring to it as history in the making.

He commended the boys for their hard work and determination in defeating a tough and talented team like Lelean.

Despite facing a formidable opponent, the team overcame the odds and proved themselves on the field.

“I am very proud of the boys, it’s a momentous occasion for us, beating a strong team like Lelean is no small feat, but our boys showed up and did the job, I couldn’t be happier with their performance,” said Kaitabu.

“This victory means everything to us. We went in, knowing it would be tough, but we proved ourselves wrong. Lelean is a big school with a lot of talent, so this win is special.

“The competition doesn’t stop here, we need to regroup, work even harder, and get ready for the national level, we have to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger.”

He acknowledged the support of the school community and thanked them for their presence and encouragement during the match.
