Acting Fiji Roads Authority CEO Kamal Prasad has been confirmed into the position by the FRA Board with effect from January 1, 2022.
Mr Prasad has approximately 20 years of local and international industry experience in construction, design, geotechnical investigation, environmental assessment, contract management, asset management, traffic management, project management and disaster management of civil and structural infrastructure projects.
According to the FRA, Mr Prasad was recruited as a senior engineer by FRA after working 15 years in the United Kingdom and Australia.
It stated that given his capabilities, Mr Prasad progressed further in his career at FRA assuming the portfolio manager role for multilateral Bank loan-funded projects, thereafter, promoted to general manager Delivery West to manage FRA’s operations in the Western Division.
Mr Prasad has served as acting CEO for the past 15 months after the position as vacated in October last year by Jonathan Moore whose contract tenure had expired.
FRA Board chairperson Ariff Ali said the Board was confident with Mr Prasad’s appointment following his performance as acting CEO where he not only demonstrated technical competence in strategising FRA’s forward works and periodic/routine maintenance programs, he also displayed strong leadership skills.
He said the Board anticipated the continued success of the authority under Mr Prasad’s leadership.
Mr Prasad will serve for a three-year term.
He was selected by a four-member interview panel comprising FRA Board members and a private sector CEO.
