The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua new signing, Inia Tabuavou shared his excitement and insights after their final training session yesterday.

Tabuavou, returning home after playing rugby in France, highlighted the significance of today’s match.

“This is a historical one.

“The boys have been looking forward to it. It’s a great opportunity to showcase what we’ve been learning on and off the field. It’ll also be a tough challenge and competition for us as young players, pushing us to prepare for the season ahead,” he said.

The transition from France to Fiji has been a positive yet demanding experience for Tabuavou.

“Coming back home has been exciting.

“The boys, the staff, and the management have been so welcoming. Adapting to the hot weather after the cold in France has been tough, but having the support of the team makes it easier. It’s great to hear your own language and feel at home. The boys are always pushing you to go the extra mile,” he added.

Tabuavou mentioned the intense preparation leading up to the trial match.

“For the past three weeks, we’ve been working hard. Training in this heat has been challenging, but the boys have been supporting and motivating one another.”

Today’s trial match against RFCLA is expected to be a physical and entertaining encounter, giving the Drua an early test ahead of the upcoming season.

Fans can expect an electric atmosphere at Churchill Park as the Fijian Drua take the field for the first time in 2025, showcasing their growing talent and passion for the game.
