QUEEN Victoria School athletics team trainer Banuve Tabakaucoro shared his gratitude on the team’s performance at the Tailevu Zone Athletics meet.
“Overall, I’m really happy with the way the boys performed over the past two days. There were some unexpected wins and some unexpected losses, but that’s sport — you take it on the chin, keep working, and move forward,” Tabakaucoro said.
Tabakaucoro shared that now the team will shift focus on keeping the boys fit.
“Our main focus now is staying healthy and keeping the boys’ injury-free throughout the season,” he said.
“We’ve got another three to four weeks of preparation ahead, and anything can happen in that time, so we’ll keep our cards close to our chest and make sure the boys are in the best possible condition”.
Tabakaucoro added that the boys have shown a big improvement from last year.
“We managed to take out two grades today and were hoping to sweep everything, but RKS is always a strong competitor,” he added.
He said Ratu Kadavulevu School boys have showed up over the past two days, and that’s what great competition is all about.
“Zones with that level of rivalry tend to perform very well, so we’re grateful to have opponents like them,” he said.
“As for the challenge ahead, it’s there, but our priority is simply doing what QVS does best in the coming weeks.”
